To make the various updates of the GPS R-Link 2, Renault puts at our disposal a tool called R-Link 2 ToolBox. This very simple tool will allow to download and to copy the updates maps and software.

Before installing an update you must first download and install Toolbox (just once is enough). Recovering your vehicle information. Enter your vehicle and keep a USB key to hand (minimum 8GB). Start the engine and switch on your R-LINK 2 screen.

How to use it?
This will list all your network interfaces. I’m on OSX El Capitan (10.11.6).tcpdump comes on OSX (or if it doesn’t, something installed it without me knowing!). Step one is figure out what network interface you want to dump. Networksetup -listallhardwareportsThen, run a packet trace on that interface.
It’s very simple, this tool is the link between the Navigation system and the R-Link Store. The GSM connection of the car can download little update but for all the other the R-Link toolbox is mandatory.
- First of all, you have to make an imprint of your system in your vehicle by inserting a blank USB key for one minute in your vehicle.
- You connect the USB key to your computer and you will be able to select which update to download.
- When it is finished you eject the key from your computer and you connect it in you car with the engine on.
- The update will start after confirmation.

Package binaries for R versions older than 3.2.0 are only available from the CRAN archive so users of such versions should adjust the CRAN mirror setting (https://cran-archive.r-project.org) accordingly.
